Captured ship: Le Bolton of Cap Francois (master François Giron).
History: a French merchant ship with letter of marque (180 tons, 8 guns, 38 men, formerly the English ship Bolton, master Oswald Eve, taken by the French when bound from Jamaica to Philadelphia in 1747), bound from Cap François, Saint Domingue to Nantes, laden with coffee, sugar and indigo; taken on 1/12 April 1748 by HMS Ranger (Anthony Kerly commanding), and brought into Portsmouth.
