Captured ship: La Belle Judith of Bordeaux (master Jean Louis Soubira).
History: a French merchant ship (200 tons and 'very old', 6 carriage guns, 25 men, and owned by Raphael Minde a Jew of Bordeaux), bound from Cul-de-Sac and Cap François, Saint Domingue to Bordeaux, laden with sugar, coffee, indigo and hides; taken on 24 June/5 July 1747 in latitude 45°30, about 55 leagues off Belle Isle by HMS Gloucester (Philip Durell commanding) and brought into Plymouth.
