Description

Captured ship: Ann (master Robert Moody).

History: an English merchant ship, bound from Boston in New England [Massachusetts] to [London], laden with pitch, tar, oil and turpentine; taken by the French on the Banks of Newfoundland, and retaken six weeks later by the privateer Chasseur (Samuel Thoume commanding) and brought into Guernsey.

  • [CP 1-CP 2]: covering letter sending copies as the originals were miscarried, two examinations;
  • [CP 3]: attestation that John Radburne of London was the original owner;
  • [CP 4]: further attestation and claim of John Radburne.
