Description

Captured ship: St Anne (master François Jouve D'Agde [of Agde]).

History: a French merchant ship bound from Smyrna [to Marseilles], laden with oil; taken on 29 June / 10 July 1744 off Malta by the privateer Diamond Galley (Daniel Goatley commanding), and brought into Malta.

  • [CP 1]: notarised copy of the examination of Daniel Goatley taken before the British Consul in Leghorn, about his captures of the St Pierre or St Peter (master Jean Baptiste Maunier), the St Antoine de L'Invisible (master Jean Jacques Olive), the Hercule (master Blaise Michel) and this ship.
  • [CP 2]: attestation as to receipt by Messrs Abraham and Jacob Franco of London, owners of the privateer, of four examinations [not here] taken before the British Consul in Leghorn, and of two ship's papers;
  • [CP 3]: allegation;
  • [CP 4]: abstract and translation of the 2 ship's papers.

Ship's papers: marked A and B.
