Captured ship: L'Aimable Vainqueur of Le Havre, formerly Nestor (master Jean Baptiste Morchoisne).
History: a French merchant ship (200 tons, 10 guns, 28 men) bound from Martinique to Le Havre, laden with sugar, indigo, cotton, tortoiseshell, hides, coffee, and silver pieces of eight; taken on 25 April 1744 two leagues off the Start by HMS Mortar (Thomas Hanway commanding) and brought into Portsmouth.
