Description

Captured ship: Anna Katharina otherwise Anna Catherina (master Ole Pedersen Stijr).

History: a Danish merchant ship, bound from Paimboeuf to Holmestrand, laden with salt, brandy and sugar, alleged to be French property; taken on 17/28 July 1745 off Boulogne by the privateer Eagle (John Bazely commanding) and brought into Dover.

  • [CP 1-CP 5]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 6-CP 8]: standing interrogatories, a fourth examination, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 9]: release;
  • [CP 10]: attestation and claim of the master;
  • [CP 11]: allegation;
  • [CP 12-CP 14]: attestation as to papers, and abstracts and translations of the 19 French, Dutch and Danish ship's papers [which were restored].

[Decision: restored as neutral, with costs and damages, 5 October 1745]
