Description

Captured ship: L'Alida, Jacques et Maria otherwise La Lida, Jacobus et Maria: (master Andries Hendriks or Hendricks).

History: a Dutch merchant ship bound from Arcachon to Grandville, laden with rosin; taken on 24 June / 5 July 1747 by the privateer Success (Charles Partridge commanding), and brought into Guernsey.

  • [CP 1-CP 2]: three examinations [one document], commisioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 3]: attestation and claim;
  • [CP 4]: allegation;
  • [CP 5]: attestation as to the poor state of the cargo;
  • [CP 6-CP 8]: attestation as to papers, and abstracts and translations from French and Dutch of the 14 ship's papers [of which 12 were restored].
