History: a French privateer (60 tons, 10 guns, 6 swivel guns, 45 men), formerly the English merchant ship Mercury (master Charles Bell); taken on 17/28 May 1747 off the Start by HMS Surprise (James Webb commanding), and brought into Plymouth.
