Captured ship: L'Apollon (master Charles Nouel Desantons).
History: a French East India Company ship with a letter of marque (600 tons, 30 guns, 161 men), bound from L'Orient in convoy [for the East Indies]; taken in fight on 3/14 May 1747 by HMS Nottingham (Philip Saumarez commanding), one of Admiral Anson's squadron, at the first battle of Cape Finisterre, and brought into Portsmouth.
