Description

Captured ship: St Antoine de Padua of Dunkirk (master Michel Soutenaye).

History: a French fishing boat, taken on 15/26 October 1746 off Gravelines by HMS Shark (Christopher Middleton commanding), and brought into Dover.

Documents:-

  • [CP 1]: ransom bill agreed by the master;
  • [CP 2]: valuation (jointly with Le St François (master Jacobus Wyllaert), another fishing boat);
  • [CP 3]: attestation;
  • [CP 4-CP 6]: two examinations and commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 7]: allegation;
  • [CP 8]: abstract and translation of the 2 ship's papers.

Ship's Papers numbered SP1-SP2.
