Captured ship: L'Andromaque otherwise L'Andromache of La Rochelle (master Henry Belliveau); formerly La Catherine .
History: a French merchant ship with letter of marque (300 tons, 16 guns, 50 men, 3 passengers), bound from La Rochelle to Cap François, Saint Domingue, laden with linen goods, shoes, beer: taken on 18/29 October 1747 about 120 leagues north west of Cape Finisterre by HMS Princess Caroline (John Lovett commanding), and brought first into the Downs and then into the River Thames.
