Description

Captured ship: L'Amilla (master Jacques Sorillon).

History: a French dogger, bound from La Rochelle via Marennes to the Banks of Newfoundland, laden with salt; taken on 11/22 April 1747 about 250 leagues west of La Rochelle by HMS Salisbury (Hon George Edgcombe commanding), and brought first into Padstow, and then into Plymouth.

  • [CP 1-CP 4]: standing interrogatories, two examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 5]: allegation;
  • [CP 6]: abstract and translation of the 4 ship's papers.

Ship's Papers: four ship's papers now marked SPA-SPD.

[Decision: condemned as prize, 30 June 1747]
