Description

Captured ship: Amicitia (master Gottfried Carstens).

History: a Danzig ship, bound from Bordeaux to Danzig, laden with wine, brandy, coffee, indigo, treacle, prunes and other goods; taken on 4/15 April 1748 by the privateers St Michael (George Cunningham commanding) and Culloden (Abraham Boxell commanding), and brought into the Downs.

  • [CP 1-CP 5]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 6-CP 8]: attestation, abstract and translation of the 52 ship's papers and books A-C, CP 6 in Dutch and German, CP 7 in French [these ship's papers were restored];
  • [CP 9]: attestation with claim for citizens of Danzig;
  • [CP 10]: allegation.
