Captured ship: L'Alexandre otherwise Alexander of Calais (master Jean Baptiste Fontaine).
History: a French privateer (56 men, 4 carriage guns, 6 swivel guns), on a successful cruise off the east coast of England and Scotland; taken on 22 October 1747 (OS) by HMS Flamborough (Jervis Henry Porter commanding), and brought intoTynemouth.
