Captured ship: Abigail of Piscataqua sloop (master John Wise before the capture, François Felloe after the capture).
History: an English [American] merchant ship, bound from Piscataqua, New England via Boston, to London, laden with pitch, tar, turpentine, oak staves, pine planks, braziletto wood, and logwood: taken on 31 July/11 August 1747 by the French privateeer La Nymphe (Nicolas Fougeray commanding) of 16 guns, 100 men; retaken on 4/15 August 1747 about 17 leagues southwest of the Lizard by HMS Prince Frederick (Henry Norris commanding) with HMS Augusta, HMS Centurion and HMS Gloucester, and brought into Plymouth.
