Captured ship: Alexandre of Nantes (master Rene Miguel).
History: a French merchant ship with a letter of marque (400 tons, 20 guns, 76 men) bound from Dunkirk to Cap François, Saint Domingue, laden with provisions, bricks, linen, and bale and other goods; taken between Ostend and Nieuwpoort 2 July 1744 by HMS Torrington (Richard Edwards commanding), HMS Harwich (Philip Cartwright commanding) and HMS Success (Henry Stewart commanding) and brought into Dover.

Court papers now numbered:
- [CP 1-CP 5]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, commisioners' affidavit;
- [CP 6]: allegation;
- [CP 7-CP 8]: attestation, and abstract and translation of two ship's papers.
- SP 1: the privateer's commission;
- SP 2: a parchment warrant of 1742 for Honoré Fougery as a master pilot of ships, detailing his 14 years' service and experience in different ships; issued from the Admiralty Court of Nantes.
