Description

Captured ship: L'Aimable Susanna (master Benjamin La Lesse).

History: a French merchant ship with a letter of marque (160 tons, 45 men, 10 guns) bound from Louisburg to La Rochelle, laden with codfish, train oil, sugar etc; taken on 10 January 1745 in 46° 30 north, by the privateer Koulikan (Joseph Barker commanding) and brought into Lisbon.

  • [CP 1]: four examinations taken in Lisbon;
  • [CP 2]: allegation;
  • [CP 3]: attestation that a cargo manifest has been received from Lisbon and that the other ship's papers were sent by Captain Barker to Mr Corbett secretary to the Admitralty as 'papers of intelligence';
  • [CP 4]: translation of the manifest.

Ship's Papers: SP 1: the manifest ('tableau du chargement').

[Decision: condemned as prize, 2 April 1745]
