History: a French merchant ship bound from St Malo to Cadiz, carrying 2 bags of gold coins consigned to two Spanish merchants in Cadiz, which were seized on 17 August 1742 between Cape St Vincent and Lisbon as enemy property by HMS Hampshire (Thomas Limeburner commanding), and brought into Portsmouth.
