Folio(s) 184-185. Letter from F A Palmer of Uppingham [Rutland] referring to the Home Secretarys reply to the Earl of Winchilsea [Lord Lieutenant of Rutland] who had transmitted a plea from graziers in the area for action against the nocturnal killing and stealing of their sheep and lambs. Palmer reports that the situation has deteriorated and proposes a £200 reward for information leading to the conviction of the offenders, subject to the Home Secretarys approval of a free pardon for accomplices who inform, and requests that this be gazetted.
