Folio(s) 386-387. Letter from Thomas Molland of Thame [Oxfordshire], ‘a poor unbeneficed clergyman’, reporting that, despite an excellent harvest for all crops but wheat, and that two-thirds of a good crop, and despite the current seedtime being propitious, everything was increasing in price. Farmers were becoming ever richer while small householders were in a worse state than the paupers to whose subsistence they were obliged to contribute.
