Description

This series consists of bound manuscript volumes from the Ministry of Defence and its predecessors which give details of the appointment of Deputy Lieutenants in each county of Great Britain, together with date gazetted, date of commission and subsequent resignation or death.

Not all columns in teh volumes were completed and the covering dates in the list are therefore approximate. In some cases, information was transferred from one volume to another which appears to account for the overlap in dates between registers covering the same counties.
