Folio(s) 417-419B. Letter from [John Christian Curwen] of Workington Hall [Cumberland] [MP for Carlisle] complaining that, since the prohibition on exports of barley from Scotland, 4100 bushels of barley and big [bigg] had been detained at Garlieston [Wigtownshire] and Gatehouse of Fleet [Kirkcudbrightshire]. It would have been imported by him weeks earlier but for the easterly winds, and was important to enable him to keep the market price down in the neighbourhood of Workington. He asks for permission to import the detained consignments as listed in the enclosure, a considerable part of which consists of bigg.
Annotated: copy of the letter and of its inclosure transmitted to the Treasury.
