Letter from W E Goodacre [William E Goodacre], Clerk to the Guardians of the Mansfield Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Board, enclosing the application for a paid collector for Mansfield Woodhouse, which had inadvertently been included in another letter. Enclosed is the application signed by Mansfield Woodhouse churchwardens George Robinson and R B Newton, overseers James Timons and Alfred Strutt. They ask the board of guardians to make a request to the Poor Law Board for the appointment of a poor rate collector at a salary of £25 per annum. J S Housley, Guardian, apologises for his absence at the board's meeting on 1 May 1856, but fully agrees with the application.Annotated: a collector is much needed, send usual form of application.
