Folio(s) 201-202. Letter from W E Goodacre [William E Goodacre], Clerk to the Guardians of the Mansfield Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Board, in reply to their letter number 13560/1856 of 1 May 1856. He encloses a copy of the minutes of their last meeting, relating to the appointment of Mr Henry Lomax as Medical Officer of the 4th district of the union. The copy states that Mr Lomax is the only medical practitioner living in the district and Sutton-in-Ashfield is such a poor and overcrowded town, that it would be inconvenient not to have him based there. He is also near the parishes of Teversal, Skegby and Hucknall under Huthwaite. The guardians support his appointment.Annotated: sanction the appointments of William Henry Paulson, Henry I Lomax and Griffin Spencer for one year.
Paper Number: 16874/1856.
Poor Law Union Number 337.
