Letter from W E Goodacre [William E Goodacre], Clerk to the Guardians of the Mansfield Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Board, in reply to their letter dated 22 April 1856, number 12191/1856. He informs them of the age of Mr James Nicholson's daughter, who is seventeen and living in Nottingham. [Mr Nicholson has applied for the post of workhouse master].Annotated: Robert Weale, [Poor Law Inspector], has seen Mr Nicholson and his daughter and sanctions his appointment, also his sister was appointed matron.
Also annotated: sanction appointment of Mr Nicholson as master, 29 April 1856.
