Description

Folio(s) 181. Draft letter from the Poor Law Board, to W E Goodacre [William E Goodacre], Clerk to the Guardians of the Mansfield Poor Law Union, acknowledging receipt of the medial officer appointment forms for William Heywood Paulson, Henry Isaac Lomax and Griffin Spencer. The Board state that Lomax is not under their four criteria prescribed by Article 168 of the General Consolidated Order. They request that the guardians furnish them, in accordance with Article 169, a special minute stating the reasons for appointing the medical officer for Number 4 District when he is not legally qualified as a medical man. The Board query Paulson's election as a residency issue and require exact details of Spencer's qualifications.Paper Number: 13560/1856.
