Appointment form from W E Goodacre [William E Goodacre], Clerk to the Guardians of the Mansfield Poor Law Union to the [Poor Law Board] for approval of James Nicholson, widower with one daughter, as workhouse master. Nicholson was previously master of the Mansfield workhouse. The salary to be £60 per annum and double rations. Nicholson was reappointed under article 189 of the General Consolidated Order.
Annotated: same salary for the master. A matron is to be elected by the guardians, shortly.
