Description

Prisoner name(s): George Chinn.

Prisoner age: 45.

Prisoner occupation: Butcher.

Court and date of trial: Purchasing three sheep skins knowing they were stolen.

Crime: Monmouth [Monmouthshire] Quarter Sessions on 1 January 1839.

Initial sentence: Ten years transportation.

Gaoler's report: Character not known, stated to have left his own county on account of having stolen sheep.

Annotated (Outcome): Nil.

Petitioner(s): Mary Chinn (prisoner's wife)

Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): Previous honest character; did not realise sheep skins were stolen; wife and four children will be left without support.
