Description

Prisoner name(s): John Handley.

Court and date of trial: Nottingham Lent Assizes 1825.

Crime: Stealing poultry (4 geese and 5 ducks).

Initial sentence: Seven years transportation.

Annotated (Outcome): At Bermuda, refused.

Petitioner(s): Thomas Reynolds, druggist, of Mansfield, friend of convict's father Thomas Handley.

Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): Father and mother most respectable; first offence; is now worthy to be released.
