Prisoner name(s): Samuel Clarke.
Prisoner age: 16.
Court and date of trial: Old Bailey Sessions December 1827.
Crime: Stealing in a dwelling house - stealing a watch from the shop of Mr Moore in Kingsland Road.
Initial sentence: Death; sentence commuted to transportation for life; refused.
Annotated (Outcome): Considered at Report in Council 14 March 1827.
Petitioner(s): Two petitions from prisoner , one with 18 people of Shoreditch area, one with 14 people.
Two petitions from Elizabeth Clarke, mother.
Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): Prisoner's mother distressed, had 18 children, now has six, one is a cripple; good character from employer.
Other papers: A scrap of card inscribed 'Reverend Thomas Young'.
Additional Information: In the cells at Newgate.
