Description

Prisoner name(s): Joseph Wren.

Prisoner occupation: Labourer.

Court and date of trial: Essex Michaelmas Sessions held at Chelmsford 1826.

Crime: Assault on Richard Darley, Farmer.

Initial sentence: Six months imprisonment and fined £5.

Annotated (Outcome): Refused.

Petitioner(s): Prisoner of Ilford, Essex.

Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): Prisoner is unable to pay fine; wife and three children now chargeable to the Parish; supports aged parents.

Other papers: Report of Visiting Magistrates T G Branston and John S Strutt on the case - Wren is able to pay the fine.

Additional Information: In Springfield Convict Gaol.
