Description

Prisoner name(s): William Towers.

Prisoner occupation: Attorney at law.

Court and date of trial: Salford Sessions held on 23 October 1826.

Crime: Conspiracy.

Initial sentence: 12 months imprisonment.

Annotated (Outcome): Mr Peel not prepared to interfere.

Petitioner(s): Prisoner.

Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): He has a wife and child to support; the evidence was 'circumstantial and presumptive' and 'vague and indefinite'; he had no knowledge of Benjamin Horrobin's misconduct; jury were prejudiced.
