Court and date of trial: Guernsey Crown Court 16 June 1830.
Crime: Murder (Infanticide). Sarah Elliot (prisoner's servant) gave birth to a male infant at the prisoner's house 10 or 11 June 1830. The prisoner, alone or with an accomplice, killed the infant by forcing an instrument into his throat and anus.
Initial sentence: Under sentence of death at Guernsey.
