Description

Prisoner name(s): Edward West.

Prisoner age: 40.

Court and date of trial: Cambridge Midsummer Quarter Sessions in July 1830.

Crime: Stealing fowls; two fowls belonging to Charles Spring of Soham, Cambridgeshire.

Initial sentence: Seven years transportation.

Gaoler's report: 'Has a general bad character. Before in prison.'

Annotated (Outcome): Nil.

Petitioner(s): Thomas Peppings of Delta Cottage, South Bank, Regent's Park, {London] on behalf of the prisoner's wife of Soham, Cambridgeshire.

Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): The petitioner has known the parents of the prisoner's wife for a long time; the Clements bear the characters of honest and industrious labourers; the sole object of the prisoner's wife is to prevent the prisoner's removal from this country.
