Description

Prisoner name(s): Fanny Poole and William Harris.

Prisoner age: Fanny Poole 48.

Court and date of trial: Fanny Poole Warwick Summer Assizes in 1830.

Crime: Fanny Poole; murder.

Initial sentence: 'To be kept in strict custody until His Majesty's pleasure shall be known.'

Annotated (Outcome): 'Fanny Poole Criminal Lunatic.' 'Warrant prepared for removal to Lunatic Asylum for the County of Stafford 11 October 1830.'

Other papers: List of criminal lunatics in Warwick Gaol on 4 October 1830 signed by Harry Adkins, Keeper and John Birch, Surgeon.

A medical certificate of recovery of Fanny Poole and William Harris signed by John Garrett of Staffordshire Lunatic Asylum.

A certificate signed by Edward Knight, Physician and John Garrett House Surgeon, stating that Fanny Poole was admitted to the Asylum on 14 October 1830 and has become of sound mind.

A certificate signed by Edward Knight, Physician and John Garrett House Surgeon, stating that William Harris was admitted to the Asylum on 21 October 1830 and has become of sound mind.

Letter from John Garrett reporting that Fanny Poole died on 3 February 1837 of an attack of influenza.
