Description

Prisoner name(s): William Cork.

Prisoner age: 19.

Prisoner occupation: Employed by Isaac Hall a distiller of Heigham, Norfolk.

Court and date of trial: Norwich City Sessions April 1829.

Crime: Stealing money.

Initial sentence: Seven years transportation.

Gaoler's report: 'Bad character and very bad connections.'

Annotated (Outcome): Nil.

Petitioner(s): Mary Baldwin (prosecutor) a widow and the owner of The Distillery public house of Heigham, Norwich undersigned by 2 people.

Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): Prisoner has respectable, honest and industrious parents; the prisoner was led astray by persons of bad character; the punishment he has already undergone will be sufficient; distressed parents; his good conduct; would be offered employment in the event of mercy.
