Court and date of trial: Hampshire Lent Assizes held at Winchester in 1828.
Crime: Cattle stealing. The prisoner stole two heifers from Southampton Common, Hampshire.
Initial sentence: [Death] commuted to transportation for life.
Annotated (Outcome): Nil.
Petitioner(s): [ [Illegible] llegible] of Southampton, on behalf of the prisoner's wife, mother and two sisters.
Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): The prisoner wishes that his sentence be served on a hulk in England; the prisoner is an excellent scholar and could be useful onboard a hulk; the prisoner will reform after two years on the hulk and become a good man.
Additional Information: The prisoner stole the heifers at the same time but was charged with two separate indictments.
D Clark requested that A Dottin MP of Argyle Street, London use his influence in conformity with the petition.
