Description

Prisoner name(s): [Mary Only].

Court and date of trial: Warwickshire Lent Assizes, [Warwick] 1828.

Crime: Robbery, of five shillings from Benjamin Griffiths in [March 1828].

Initial sentence: Death recorded and commuted to transportation for life.

Annotated (Outcome): 'Nil May 7 1828'.

Petitioner(s): John Hardman (a former employer and present employer of the convict's father) undersigned by 16 others and supported by a letter from the said John Hardman relating to the characters of John Holmes (convict's father) and the convict.

Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): Her previous good character; her first offence; her father's very good character over 28 years and his distress at his daughter's sentence.

Additional Information: She was held in Warwick Gaol.
