The Directorate of Army Psychiatry was part of the Adjutant General's Department and was responsible for technical advice on psychiatric aspects of morale, discipline, training and equipment; selection, training and allocation of Army psychiatrists; technical supervision of clinical policy and research at Army psychiatric hospitals and clinics; psychiatric aspects of rehabilitation and invaliding; and liaison on psychiatric matters with the Ministry of Labour and National Service, Ministry of Pensions and the Ministry of Health.
