The aim of the Training Services Division (known as the Training Services Agency from 1974 to 1978) was to ensure the provision of skilled manpower in the right numbers and skills, and at the right time. The Division also assisted in the development of the national training system (to meet the manpower needs of the economy), and in the development of occupational training. The Division was renamed the Training Division in 1982, when it merged with the Special Programmes Division. In 1986 The Training Division became the Vocational Education and Training Group.
