These records of non-commissioned officers and men include description books; records of service, including original attestation papers; registers of marriages and baptisms; registers of deceased soldiers; some records of transfer of men to the Army Reserve, etc; pension registers; description book of the Royal Irish Artillery, 1756 to 1774; and miscellaneous correspondence.
Only 314 volumes are now held in WO 69. The remaining items, chiefly records of services of non-effectives, WO 69 (20-61 and 178-550), were transferred to Chelsea Hospital in 1923 and are believed to have been destroyed during the Second World War.
