Administrative / biographical background

Sir Robert 'Bob' Kerslake was announced in November 2011 as the new Head of the Home Civil Service after the retirement of the former holder, the Cabinet Secretary, Sir Gus O'Donnell, and in January 2012 he took up his new post alongside the newly appointed Cabinet Secretary, Sir Jeremy Heywood. He also continued to be Permanent Secretary at the Department for Communities and Local Government.
