KV 6/118
1940 May 13 - 1958 Oct 16
Hans KOHOUT. In 1924 an Austrian member of the Nazi Party in Britain, KOHOUT offered his services to German Intelligence in Vienna in 1938. He joined the British Union of Fascists in the early part of the war and was found to be working for a firm engaged on secret government contracts making aluminium foil. Through a contact whom KOHOUT thought was working for the Gestapo in Britain but who was in fact a member of the Security Service, it was established that he was anxious to pass information to the German Secret Service. A particularly sensitive secret he sought to communicate concerned the technical details of WINDOW, the anti-radar device developed to protect RAF bombers. After the war he offered to spy on the Communist Party and the Russians on behalf of the Fatherland
