George Friedrich Wolfgang HONIGMANN. A German journalist in London in the 1930s, HONIGMANN was interned in the UK for a time in 1940, but released the following year. After a variety of jobs, during which it became clear that he was a communist, he returned to Germany and promptly crossed to the Russian Zone to become editor of an East German newspaper 'Berliner Zeitung'. HONIGMANN was arrested for a short time in 1953
