J3082. Contested cause.
Captured ship: Jacobina snow of Amsterdam (master Fredericks).
History: a Dutch slave trader, bound originally from Amsterdam to the coast of Guinea, [Dutch West Africa], with bale goods; there took on a cargo of enslaved people for Surinam, where the slaves were disposed of, and a cargo of sugar, cotton and coffee loaded for Amsterdam.
Taken by the privateer Friends Goodwill of Guernsey on 27 July 1803, and the Dutch captain Matthys Fredericks and six officers were taken on board the privateer; on 30 July, the ship was taken again, by the French national corvette L'Aventure, but was retaken the same day by HMS Rosario, and was brought into Cork.
