To: Ballard and Mitchell, Solicitors, Burnley [Lancashire].
From: The General Board of Health.
Draft letter acknowledging receipt of a letter dated 12 May 1855. It is stated that a copy of the usual form of petition and certificate, with a minute of instructions as to the powers and duties of Local Boards of Health and their offices, is being forwarded by way of reply. They are advised not to send their petition praying for an inquiry to be made into the sanitary condition of Little Marsden until parliament has decided on the new Public Health Bill which is said to currently be under consideration.
