To: Thomas Thornton, Clerk to the Local Board of Health, Bishop Auckland [Durham].
From: The General Board of Health.
Draft letter acknowledging receipt of a letter dated 17 January 1856. It is stated in reply that the course proposed would appear to be a very objectionable one, but before a decision can be made upon the matter a plan of the proposed works, with full particulars, must be sent to the Office of the General Board of Health for approval, as required by Section 75 of the Public Health Act 1848.
