To: Thomas Thornton, Clerk to the Local Board of Health, Bishop Auckland [Durham].
From: The General Board of Health.
Draft letter acknowledging receipt of a letter dated 15 December 1855 and the accompanying copy of a petition from certain rated inhabitants of the district of Bishop Auckland, with reference to the inclusion of parts of the township of Pollards Lands in the boundary of that district. It is stated in reply that Mr Ranger, Superintending Inspector, has been instructed to make inquiry and report on the subject when he attends at Bishop Auckland on 9 January 1856. A copy of the notice of inquiry is also enclosed.
