To: Thomas Thornton, Clerk to the Local Board of Health, Bishop Auckland [Durham].
From: The General Board of Health.
Draft letter acknowledging receipt of a letter dated 5 September 1855. It is stated in reply that the attendance of the Engineer with the plans would not obviate the necessity of an examination of the district by a Superintending Inspector. It is further stated that the estimate of the cost of the works must be furnished with the plans and that they may be forwarded to the office of the General Board of Health by the Engineer under the authority of the Local Board.
