Letter from Captain Field commander of the 'Rye' at Kinsale, concerning the sighting of a sloop off the coast of Ireland, suspected of some ill design. Information (14 June) enclosed of John Gill a pilot of Dublin on board the 'Willmouth Banker' of Barry (in Wales), meeting with the suspected vessel (taking sugar, rum and indigo to Rotterdam) off Limerick, their captain enquired after news from Scotland and drank a toast to the Pretender [James Edward Stuart].
